BirdLife International, founded in 1922 (formerly known as International Council for Bird Preservation), is a global partnership of non-governmental organizations focusing on bird conservation. The partnership consists of 121 partners, covering over 100 countries and territories worldwide. BirdLife International aims at conserving birds, their habitats and global biodiversity. The partnership also emphasizes on working with local communities towards sustainability in the use of natural resources.

The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society was first an Affiliate of BirdLife International in 1994 and was later upgraded to Partner Designate in 2010. In 2013, we became a Full Partner in the partnership.
